Artist Bio
Born in Bari, Italy in 1976, Michele Giuliani starts his musician career at sixteen years old, playing keybords in a art rock band (in the 1997 it culminates in a recorded theatrical musical pieces) to go on, later, to the piano classical study with M°.R. Falaschi.
The truth passion for the improvised music brings Giuliani to meet the jazz pianist M.Signorile, who starts him to a research and contamination way to think jazz music, way that will bring him to Rome to the popular music school of “Testaccio” studying with Sandro Satta, and Carlo Mezzanotte at the “Saint Louis” school and morever attend to seminars and workshops about T.Monk and the be-bop language of the pianist Vince Benedetti and the arranger and composer R.Spadoni.
In the last years Giuliani starts to find again new artistic experiences and composition, founding a project including nine elements :”Sound and Pictures in ensemble” that explore the mixed sound among jazz, funk, hypnotic groove taking care about arrengement and external collaborations.
“Free days”, the name of album produced in 2004.
Open to all regarding to develope his artistic skill as well as professional, now he cooperate with a theatrical-dance group directed by Paola D’Alessandro in Bari, working on contemporary music based on extemporary creation of body movements.
He starts his soloist career producing in May, 2006 the album “Un Fiore nuovo”, that includes last ideas in piano solo, result of his life experience in Ethiopia to research a new sound from the piano jazz tradition to modern Africa.
Some songs and ideas included in that solo album are revisited in his new work including the very special sound and spiritual vocal sound of Dabirè Gabin :”Essence” where the thoughts about sound begin finally, to take a regular shape and open to a new creative period for the italian pianist.
